We all know the popular notion that liquid food is easily digestible by the body but you have to keep in mind the first step towards healthy liquid intake lies by cutting down caffeine and forms of sweetened or flavored drinks. These drinks are capable of accumulating toxins in the body and eventually can cause all sorts of chronic conditions. So the first thing you should eliminate in your water fasting journey is to eliminate caffeine and sugary drinks in all forms. It is widely suggested and recommended that you at least have 8 glasses of water day which is equivalent to 64 oz. Drinking water helps you eliminate the toxins and also the excretes them from the digestive trat. Your digestive system will be in optimal condition while water fasting. You can experience this with 1-2 days of starting the water fast. Water is also capable of hydrating the body and skin thus maintaining it soft and supple. Also, if you start drinking water consistently before every meal you eat less thus reducing your calorie intake.

Most people go on a water fast thinking they will magically lose weight.

. This is not the case. Water Fasting is aimed at cleansing your body of toxins and other free radicals that is harming you in one way or another. As the calorie intake in water fasting is close to nil, you do start burning fat for energy. When your body starts burning fat for energy you reach the ketosis stage. You will start losing water weight from your body during the ketosis stage. You will also lose weight due as the accumulated fat in your body is converted to energy.
As I mentioned before, primary aim of water fasting is to cleanse your body. If you are planning to lose weight using water then I would suggest the water diet plan mentioned here.

Can anyone do Water Fast?

As with any weight loss approach you will have to exercise caution while being on water fast. Water Fast is a bit extreme form of cleansing for many and you might not be able to handle it. But, the good news it is the only form of weight loss used by our ancestors and they are able to handle it, so it is most likely that you can too. Always consult your health care professional before being on water diet. It may not be suitable for people with certain chronic conditions.
