This is now becoming "THAT" article in this office. As with most things in my life, I have done things one way then another then researched, prodded about etc, and have come up with new findings and new theories. I like my new theories better than the old ones but, for the sake of argument I will give you both sides of the coin. I will start with the food . . . .
Now this system has been going for time immemorial and it is a hard and fast system that does work. It is eating different fuels at different times. Food for the belly is just like fuel for the home ie logs, coal and butane they all have different burn rates, coal is slow and butane fast. So it is with carbohydrates, proteins, sugars and fats. This being the case then you need to be putting the slow burners in your body at the beginning of the day and giving it a chance to utilise it.

Eating 3 meals a day is not just "old hat" it is ancient hat, it is hat that has decayed, gone to dust and is now just soil, it is old soil hat (blerg). It is just one of those dogmatic approaches that has lasted for centuries. When I say centuries the idea came from Galen
and he was born in Ad 129, so, maybe, just maybe this way is not only outdated but well past its sell by date!
Let us think about this dogma for a little bit. Why would you need to eat a small meal at the start of the day, the time just before you are about to go and do a lot of "stuff", then eat another medium sized meal three - four hours later when your body is starting to slow down a bit and the piece de la resistance eat a huge meal at the end of the day when your body is preparing to do . . . . . NOTHING! He wrote it was so our bodies could have time to process a large meal as we slept . . . why would we need to be doing this? In preparation for what? Oh, yes "break fast"!!! (please note the true meaning of that word too!)

Stop the guilt
Do not attach guilt to food, as, this will only make you crave it more! If you are constantly telling yourself
"I can't have chocolate, I can't have biscuits, I can't have crisps, I can't have blah, blah, blah"
I must write down what I have eaten so I can see where I have gone wrong . . . .
STOP IT!
All your mind is hearing is, chocolate, crisps, biscuits, food, more food, too much food, food, food, food, food GUESS WHAT YOU WILL BE CRAVING!!!
Teach yourself to think of I want to be healthy, I want to exercise etc., change the record!

If you want to get rid of excess weight for good, then stop looking at your body as another strange being that does things you don't want, and start realising that you ARE your body and visa versa, you created every part of it, you are responsible. Your body didn't just get bored of processing food, you just put too much in it for it to possibly use.
So, first things first, use what you have stored! You cannot expect your body to get rid of fuel if you keep filling it up with more, "no can do la!" Start by cutting out fatty foods, increase the nutrient dense food, cut down the calorie dense foods, let your body utilise the fuel it already has! Your body has to go into calorie "deficit" before it will burn what it has stored. . . simples.
I can almost hear it now . . YOU TOLD me not to diaries what I eat, so how can I know if I am eating less calories? 1st: Go rule 3 above learn about food, the more information you arm yourself with, the more likely you are to win your battle. A good rule of thumb is if you are eating fruit and veg it would take some doing to eat 3000 cals and the other indicator is . . YOU WILL LOSE WEIGHT as soon as you start to cut back the over intake!

First of all I would like you to think back to the last time you had a large cooked meal. Did you feel full of energy or a bit tired? If you answered that honestly you will have opted for "a bit tired". Cooked food taxes your body, it depleted the body of oxygen and thus makes you tired. Now I realise you may not want to be a raw foodist, but ensure you get enough raw fruit and veg in there to give your body the help it needs.
Now think of the last time you did some aerobic exercise or even the last time you went for a brisk walk, did you feel lacking in energy afterwards, or like you had recharged your battery? The correct non fibbing answer is energised. Yes you may have felt wibbly or achey, even out of breath, but, you felt energised.
Exercise boosts the flow of oxygen into your body, oxygen burns fat and floods energy into every cell of your body. This is fact not theory! The general principal is that for every litre of oxygen that goes into your body around 5 calories get used. The more powerful the exercise, the deeper you breath, the more oxygenated your body becomes the more excess fat you burn! TAH DAH!

Empty Promises & Not Miracle Methods
There are a lot of pills and potions and miracle methods out there that promise to rid you of your excess fat. In fact there are around 66,500,000 sites out there to sell you pills, supplements, the new fad diet, the new miracle berry, extract of this, courses of that, lipo suction, non invasive lipo suction blah, blah, blah. This supermarket list is endless, and why? Because it is a multi billion dollar industry. What they don't tell you is that in order to lose weight, you actually have to want to. The best way to get your body geared is simply to start exercising. I know some people hate the "E" word but it is the best, safest, most cost efficient, imune system building, bone density building, healthiest way, the more you exercise, the more you want to exersiceand so it goes on.
When you get something in a pill form for example vitamin supplements, you are not doing your body a great favour. The best thing you can do is give your body the natural, unprocessed foods.
I know that the raw food diet is not a path everyone wants to go down, and that's fair enough, but to give your body a chance you have to up the intake of natural, fresh, oxygen and nutrient rich fuel.

When people become ill, overweight or old metabolism slows down, the ability to process foods slows down, soooo, the best thing to do is speed this little bad boy up. To do this we have a couple of options, the best way is to take them ALL up.
Drink more water.
You will find me saying this all over my articles but water intake will speed up your metabolism. Drinking cold water will help even more as your body has to get it to a higher temperature to digest it. Your body needs water and the second you dehydrate your body slows as soon as you rehydrate your body accelerates again it is the second most vital ingredient!
Fasting.
I have read articles that tell you fasting slows down your metabolism . . . incorrect. The second you stop eating you allow your body to detox and relieve the stress on your system. If you have been eating an unhealthy diet then I warn you, you will feel awful, you will get headaches, feel tired the more your body detoxes, you will feel lethargic, THIS IS NORMAL it is in fact not your metabolism slowing down but your body dealing with flushing out all the toxins you have stored up .
Exercise
Increases the oxygen into your system, oxygen is a fuel, very explosive the more you have the higher its burn rate the higher its burn rate the faster your metabolic rate
Nutrient Dense Foods
Raw fruit and vegetables, as explained above, will increase oxygen levels and feed your body the nutrients it desires.
