Why Was I Struggling To Lose Weight?

I actually eat a healthy diet most of the time and I exercise 6 out of 7 days. But I still struggled with my weight. Why? I love to eat, and I eat too much. So every few months I would try to lose the extra stone I am carrying by cutting down on the amount of food I was eating. Or I'd try some crazy new diet that included following a lot of new 'rules' that I had to learn.

I suspect that the problem I have is that my stomach has stretched from years of eating big portions. I have tried in the past to make my portions smaller but it just takes away my enjoyment of food and I just don't feel satisfied with my meals......so I end up snacking an hour later.

And it's not just me who is eating too much. According to WebMD the amount we eat is a serious problem.

You may be thinking that I eat too much 'bad' food but one of my favourite meals is in fact a salad. You would be amazed however, at how big a salad I actually eat! And I love fruit. I recently met a woman who loved to eat pineapple.

How Does It Work?

Water is very important!
It is pretty straightforward.....30 minutes before a meal I would take the Skinny Fiber supplement as instructed with a large glass of water (the water is really important). The glucommanan would then swell in my stomach (you don't feel this happening) and by the time I was ready to eat I would already be feeling quite full.

It takes about 20 minutes for the brain to register that your stomach is full, so taking it 30 minutes before eating gives your body the time needed for this to happen.

I started by taking Skinny Fiber ahead of my evening meal only, so that my body could get used to the additional fiber. After about two weeks I used it with my lunch-time meal as well.

It's important that you try to reduce the quantity of food you serve yourself when starting Skinny Fiber. For the first week or so I was still dishing up the same quantities out of habit, and eating everything off my plate. I just wasn't thinking about how full I felt. This resulted in some uncomfortable nights laying on the sofa feeling stuffed from eating too much food!

Did Skinny Fiber Help Me To Lose Weight?

Initially it was very slow - I lost two pounds in the first two weeks. As I mentioned earlier I was only using it with evening meals and I would sometimes forget to take it.

Once I got into a routine with it and was taking it twice a day, I was losing between 1.5 and 2 pounds each week. It took me 9 weeks to lose a stone at which point I changed back to taking it just once a day before my evening meal. After a further three weeks I lost another 4 pounds which took me to my goal of 18 pounds.

I now see it as something that I would go back to if the pounds started to creep back on but a month later I'm still maintaining the same weight. The experience of getting used to eating smaller, more normal portions of food was probably the greatest benefit of taking Skinny Fiber.

What Didn't I like About It?

For the first 5 days or so it made me feel a bit bloated and uncomfortable. Given that the Skinny Fiber supplements contain fiber my body must have been reacting to the additional fiber that I was suddenly taking. This discomfort - and it really was minimal - did stop by week two.

I would recommend taking it before just one meal a day when you first start, as I did, to give your body time to get used to it.

As with most popular products you can easily get tricked into buying 'fake' products online so I would recommend buying from the official website. Remember that you are putting this in your mouth and you don't want to risk your health or spend money on something inferior.

Try These Portion Control Tips

1. Use a smaller plate to eat from. This made it look as though I was still getting a full plate of food even though there was less food on it.

2. Don't put large serving plates on the dinner table. We eat as a family so I would often put all of the food I'd cooked in the middle of the table and we'd help ourselves to it. This made it very easy to go back for seconds. I now dish up everyone's meal in the kitchen and bring it to the table. Interestingly, my husband has lost 5 pounds since I started doing this.

3. Put your fork or spoon down between mouthfuls. One of the reasons I ate so much was that I ate very quickly. I started using this tip towards the end of week two and it really helped me to eat more slowly.

4. When eating, focus on your food and really savour it. Don't eat while watching television, chatting on the phone or checking your emails, as eating while your attention is on another activity easily results in overeating. Perhaps you've also noticed how large quantities of snack-food seem to disappear while you are watching television? And you don't even remember enjoying it!
