Why I Like Exercising instead of Dieting to Lose Weight and Keep it Off
1) Exercise makes me feel good about myself. I feel stronger, more capable than the day before. I am proud that I am exercising. My mood improves (I guess from the endorphin rush) when I exercise. Diet makes me feel that I must do without everything I want. I feel that I have failed to fit into my pants and now must suffer through hunger. I feel worse about myself and have to accept someone else's advice about what I should eat.
2) I can exercise more and more (well as long as I have time). If on my first day I can only run a half-mile before walking... if I keep it up by the end of the month, I'll be running a couple miles. So I can expect ongoing improvement. With a diet, I can only limit what I eat by so much. I can't eat less and less. And sooner or later, a situation arrives, such as a family vacation where a diet is an inconvenience.

3) Exercise can be a game. Do I need to say more?
4) Exercise can reduce your appetite. But dieting never increases your urge to exercise! Think about it...
5) Just the idea of going ON a diet, makes me think that at some point I will go OFF the diet. Which means I'll probably go back to eating what I was eating before, which means I'll probably go back to eventually weighing what I weighed before. To keep weight off, add a bit of exercise, preferably a fun one to your routine and when the weight comes off, it should stay off.
