Cabbage Soup Diet

FULL REVIEW: The Cabbage Soup Diet has been around for many many years. Originally authored by an unknown individual, but it serves as a beginning point as this is one of the few diets that has stood the test of time. The Cabbage Soup diet is designed to be used for a one week period, then if more weight loss is desired, then to be cycled back into after a period of normal eating.

The key of the diet is, well, cabbage soup. The idea is that whenever you are hungry, if you eat the cabbage soup recipe, you will be satisfied for the week long dieting period and still be able to lose weight efficiently. Now, I won't go into details of the cabbage soup recipe itself, but if you search for it, you'll easily be able to find it. The diet itself forces the dieter to maintain a caloric intake of approximately 800-1,200 calories a day, well below the recommended amount. Now there is more than just the cabbage soup in this diet, but the food list is very restrictive and does not offer the body the nutrients it needs. This being said, the Cabbage Soup Diet is more of a modified fast than anything, resulting in extreme weight loss in the week long period.

The problems lie in the calories consumed. It is true that if you're only eating 800-1,200 calories in a single day, you will undoubtedly lose weight quickly, but that weight lost will have it's consequences. First and foremost, most of the weight you will lose will be water weight. Flushing your system with increased amounts of water and the soup itself will cause you to lose a lot your water weight rather than actual fat loss.

Secondly, eating such a diet causes malnutrition, so if you are thinking about using this diet as a short-term result, I highly advise you take a good multivitamin with it, to ensure your body is getting what it needs to function properly. Lastly, eating that low amount of calories will cause your body's metabolism to slow down, and enter what many call "starvation mode" which is when the body is running off the minimum amounts of fuel it needs in order to preserve itself.

In conclusion, the Cabbage Soup Diet may very well tip the scales in your favor after that week, but once you return to your normal eating habits, the weight you worked so hard to lose is staring you right back in the face, something no one wants to see. I personally would not recommend this diet as it does not provide what the body needs, and it will cause despair in dieters when they gain the weight right back. FULL REVIEW: The Feeding Tube Diet is a very difficult diet to attempt to review. There is much more than just the health-part of this diet. The ethical portion of the Feeding Tube Diet causes massive amounts of debate. Whether or not people should be able to go and attempt a"what-ever-means-necessary" diet to lose weight is a big topic regarding the Feeding Tube Diet. The other big issue surrounding this diet is whether or not a normally healthy person should ever be exposed to using a solution designed and administered to people who depend on it to survive. Doctors, patients and by-standers all seem to have differing opinions about the ethical portion of this diet. This review is designed to be factual in nature, and thus, will not be addressing any of the ethical portions concerning this diet, as those 'opinions' would be just that, opinions.

The Feeding Tube Diet is a recent fad currently targeted towards brides-to-be when they are desperately trying to fit in their wedding dress, hence needing rapid and massive weight loss. The diet has claims to be able to drop up to 20 pounds in 10 days, which health-wise, is an accident waiting to happen. Something to always remember when looking at diet plans is the initial weight loss. If it seems to good to be true, then it usually is. The dieter in this program would carry around a pouch of the solution and whenever they feel hungry, they would insert a feeding tube in their nose to administer the solution. The solution is a mixture of proteins, fats and water. Having no carbs causes the body to enter a state of ketosis, usually within the first three days. Ketosis, simply put, is when the body's carbohydrate stores are depleted and the body turns to fat stores for its energy.

So your body is using fat stores for energy, thus losing fat weight using the Feeding Tube Diet? Wrong. Ketosis is a whole different diet program which takes months to achieve results. Ketosis also requires great attention to detail along with macronutrient tracking. The Feeding Tube Diet is a temporary diet designed for massive weight loss in a short period of time. The bulk of this weight loss, like many diets that promise huge results in a short period of time, will be water weight. During the Feeding Tube Diet the average dieter consumes around 800 calories while taking the solution. This, much like many other low-calorie diets, is very harmful to the dieter in terms of nutrition. The body is not getting the nutrients that it needs to maintain normal functioning. The solution - the sole source of nutrients - is designed for unhealthy individuals who cannot eat regular food.

In conclusion, the Feeding Tube Diet offers the dieter a chance to lose massive amounts of weight within the 10 day diet period, but offers little to no longevity to the dieter. The diet does not offer any behavioral change, making it a poor choice when compared to slower, more efficient diet choices. If you are going to be attempting this diet, please consult your doctor before beginning any diet, especially the Feeding Tube Diet.
